This time the Garage48 wood hackathon is growing bigger - with the purpose to bring together the people in the various fields of forestry and wood industry to discuss and work together on EFFICIENT and SUSTAINABLE solutions for maintaining and increasing the value of our forests.
Our one new focus area will be DIGITALIZATION IN WOODEN HOUSES CONSTRUCTION. To open up the subject and get you more ready for the hackathon, we invite you to our pre-event happening on Sept 20th in Tallinn, hosted by Estonian Centre for Architecture / Eesti Arhitektuurikeskus.
OUR AIM for the pre-event is to understand and find solution ideas to the problems architects and manufacturers face in using BIM - Building Information Modelling - for the design, manufacturing and logistics of wooden houses.
To name some of them -
prefab house models restrict the flexibility of architectural solutions - how to reach maximum flexibility towards prefab houses in mass production without losing production efficiency?
design is a bottleneck that slows down production effectivity - how to make “just-in-time” product blueprints and/or how to reuse previously made blueprints?
AND the problems you are facing - we want to hear about them and find solutions!
This will be a very hands-on pre-event. You won't be putting your hands on actual prototyping yet, but together with inspirational speakers, mentors and group work sessions we will guide you through problem mapping, ideation and idea pitches, that can move forward to the Garage48 Future of Wood makeathon for actual prototyping.
SPEAKERS & MENTORS
You will get to hear from three speakers on their successful experience of using BIM for the cooperation of architects and manufacturers:
